6 TIPS FOR A RELAXING SELF CARE ROUTINE

It is so easy for moms to get lost in the hustle and bustle of everyday life.  

If you are like every other mom on the planet, you are constantly putting others first.  We should do the best we can for our families, but where does mom self care rank on the list?

An easy way to start taking care of yourself is to implement a soothing and relaxing mom self care routine.  

Below are some tips to help you end your day on a more peaceful note.

TAKE AN EVENING WALK

Consider taking a 15 minute family walk around the block after dinner.  This will help set the tone for the rest of your evening, as well wind the kids down before bed.

PAMPER YOURSELF

Whether you take a bath, a hot shower or indulge in a face mask, a few minutes of daily pampering will leave you feeling refreshed.  As women, it is important to take care of ourselves both inside and out.  It’s amazing how a little bit of pampering will completely change your mood and mental outlook.  Diffuse your favorite essential oil and just take a few minutes to relax.

INDULGE IN SOMETHING SWEET

I don’t know about you, but I appreciate something sweet at the end of the day.  A little sweet treat definitely adds to your mom self care routine!

HAVE AN ADULT CONVERSATION

Make it a point to spend some real quality time with your spouse and have an adult conversation.  This is especially important if you are in the presence of children all day. 

If possible, try to keep the conversation light, putting aside all of life’s stressors for a few minutes.  Try to avoid talking about work, the kids or other serious topics, instead focusing exclusively on each other.

MAKE A TO-DO LIST

There is something so therapeutic about making a to-do list and crossing off all the completed items at the end of the day.  It creates a sense of accomplishment and improves your productivity.

Take some time to prepare your to-do list for the following day.  In order to avoid becoming overwhelmed, keep your list to a reasonable amount of items.  This will your mindset as  you turn in for the night and get you focused on the day ahead.

DO SOMETHING YOU ENJOY

Take a few minutes to do something you enjoy at the end of the day.  Whether you read a book or watch some TV, these quiet moments of doing nothing are super important.

We spend our days running after kids and completing so many endless errands that we often forget to just stop and do something just for us.

Make it a priority each night to do things that make you feel good.  “Mom life” is a hard life, and its super important to take care of ourselves.  Just doing a few simple things each night will help us relax and in turn we will be the best moms, wives, employees and entrepreneurs possible!
